Fish oils are a great source of Omega 3
The breakthrough in understanding of the benefits of cod liver oil really came with the discovery of the functions of omega 3 fatty acids found in fish oils. Omega 3s are important for the regulation of a number of body processes and functions. They are also important in heart health, in the development of the eye and brain in young animals and in skin and hair condition.
This slow release capsule ensures your pet gets the benefits of omega 3 over time without any unpleasant taste. It is an excellent source of Vitamin D, needed for strong bones and absorption of calcium, and vitamin A which is also important for skin and hair quality.
Often given to maintain mobility and supple joints, this is a great choice for active and working dogs.
A natural source of Omega 3, and vitamin A and D for healthy joints
Fish oils are a great source of omega 3 fatty acids – good fats which play a major role in keeping your pet healthy. They are important for skin and coat condition, heart health and maintaining mobile and supple joints, making these slow release capsules ideal for active or working dogs. Especially formulated to avoid that fishy aftertaste, the capsules are also high in vitamin A and vitamin D, required for strong bones and the absorption of calcium.
Why use cod liver oil as a source of Omega 3 for dogs and cats?
Omega 3 is considered the most beneficial of the omega polyunsaturated fats and has three different natural forms – ALA, EPA and DHA. EPA and DHA are the most active and are only found in marine sources of Omega 3.
‘Fish oil’ products contain Omega 3 but cod liver oil has the additional benefit of naturally occurring high levels of vitamins A & D. Dogs rely much more heavily on their diet as a source of vitamin D than people, who can synthesis the vitamin in their skin when exposed to UV radiation from the sun.
When should I use cod liver oil?
Omega 3 is the hardest of the omegas to get from diet alone and vitamin D is also hard to find in most natural ingredients. This makes Dorwest Cod Liver Oil Capsules suitable for everyday use – especially for dogs that are always on the go.
With cold weather putting particular strain on joints, cod liver oil is particularly beneficial in winter when your pet may benefit from an extra boost.

Your delicious meals are shipped frozen. Our insulated boxes are designed to keep your food cold during transit. They stay cold for 48 hours so there’s no need to be at home for delivery. That means if your box is left in a safe place or with a neighbour, you can just pop the food into the fridge or freezer when you get home.
At times our frozen meals defrost slightly whilst on their way to you, however this is expected especially in warmer weather, provided the food is still cold it is completely safe to pop them into the freezer to refreeze. We’ve done lots of testing on this, and we’d never suggest something we weren’t comfortable doing ourselves.
Some Highlands and Islands postcodes may take a while longer for delivery. If you live in one of these harder to reach areas call us to find out more 02829540569.
barkinBISTRO will not accept liability for missing orders that have shown to be left at your address by the GPS tracking from our couriers or for incorrect address information.
We will not refund or replace orders where customers have notified the couriers to deliver on an alternative delivery day or to an alternative delivery address. Changes agreed with the courier once your parcel has left our premise are out of our control and we strictly advise against this.
We are always looking to improve so do email or call our friendly team on [email protected] or 02829540569 if you have any questions.
